It’s been awhile. Hubby and I went camping last weekend, so I skipped Sunday’s check-in. I had a hell of a time sleeping while there because my knee hurt pretty badly. It’s better now, so I’m assuming I must have been lying wrong. But still…2 days no sleep sucked. (And it rained). But it was a nice trip overall.
So here’s the rundown:
Short stories – Wrote and submitted my October short to TDP; finally finished revising my longish 18k short story for the antho today. Still need to do another pass + editing. It’s due Sept. 10. I should make it.
Ever Touched – Up to 101k. Making slow progress. I really need to hit it hard this month so I can finish it and have 2 months to revise.
Covenant – Nada
Water – Mostly last week, twice this week.
Exercise – Nothing deliberate, but walked a lot at the campground. My goal for this weekend is MORE HOUSEWALKING.
Secret project – Nothing.
Author interviews – Sent in #2 last week.
Reviews – Have slowed down a bit. Need to finish the ones without a deadline (3).
Office organization – We’re picking up the filing cabinet today!
Chocolate consumption – Chocolate marshmallow cookies (heavenly!), chocolate caramel thingies, WW brownies, WW chocolate pastries, WW sundaes, ultimate chocolate ice cream sandwiches…hubby and I are getting ice cream today so I think I’ll have some form of chocolate there, too. Went a little nuts….
Rain and no sleep does not sound like a fun camping trip to me, but glad you had a good time in spite of all that! And got a lot accomplished, too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Jennette! It is nice to get away, even if it’s a bit crazy. π
Hmmm…I’ve never taken my house for a walk before. Maybe it could use some exercise… π
Seriously, I walk in the house, quite often, setting a timer and regularly putting some wear and tear on the carpet in my efforts to be fit. If that’s what you were actually talking about, i can certainly relate.
Congratulations on your new filing cabinets. I love mine. They make it possible to find various manuscripts that would otherwise be buried in a box somewhere.
LOL, Harpwriter! Yeah, setting a timer and walking around the house is exactly it. Although the image of someone walking their house is pretty funny! I needed a new filing cabinet because my old one — which predates college, I think (gulp) — is packed to the gills even after pruning. I have about 5 or 6 files without a home, and a ton of writing stuff, so I finally decided to get one.;)
I don’t sleep well when camping – I pretty much know that going in. I love the night, and the dawn wakes me, so I get a couple of hours, maybe a bit more if I’m lucky. But I love to camp, all the same! =)
You’re clearly making progress in several areas. It’s cumulative; kudos! =D
I had a small peanut butter cup milkshake. Tasty.
Shan, it’s the same for me for the first night, but usually it’s better after that. Yeah, I am making progress even if it doesn’t feel that way sometimes. π Ooh a peanut butter cup milkshake sounds heavenly!
It was very tasty, but I had to ask for the children’s size – the full one is just too big!
Glad you had a nice trip, despite the knee issues and lack of sleep. And you’ve made some progress. Looks good!
Thanks, Fallon!
Such fun to have chocolate consumption on the same list of goals as exercise and water intake! π
All the best with your many projects. Your secret project is especially intriguing.
Hi Steph! Yeah, a bit of a contradiction though. π I will give you a hint. The secret project is actually nonfiction. π
Well done on your goals and I love that you have a chocolate one!
Thanks Pam! Everyone loves that one. π
I find that I tend to need naps during camping trips. And.. we use an air mattress, so it’s a bit easier to bear the ground. But… we didn’t have any rain except overnight one night. That’s not a common occurrence, I’ll agree with how awesome it to get away even during those days though… there is something wonderful about being in another space.
Though… the laundry when one returns.
Good progress with the goals given the time away.
Hi Eden! We used to use an air mattress but it tore up my back. π¦ But yes, it was better than flat ground. It is great to get away. Yes on the laundry, omg! Thanks for the kind words. π
Shan, I probably would have done the same!
