Feeling much, much better now. Made some good progress on Grave Touched the past few days. Of course, I’ve got a sex scene to tackle next and while I’m pretty good with those now, this one is different because it has to show that the two MCs, who have been together for centuries, no longer connect. The original scene was regular sex scene. But then I got to thinking: [spoiler] happened, so that will have to have an impact on the sex end of things. Sooooo last night I started it. I’m kind of dreading finishing it. (Also, I have to change the POV from the female to the male. Ugh). So hopefully today I can get past that and move forward.
Naturally, my muse has been pinging me with all kinds of new ideas. She’s insane.
So here are my stats:
Running total: 13,572 words
Words remaining: 61,428 words
Body count: Everyone’s still alive. Even me. 😉
Feeling: Better.
Eye report: Some major pain now that I’ve decreased my dosage of the nerve pain medication. Haven’t had to reach for the loopy pills yet, though.
i have trouble with sex scenes too…of course, a lot of mine involve Vulcans…and they come with their own privacy issues and that durned emotional control…I usually write them several times, getting a little deeper and more real each time.
And then there are those Tribed folks, who, other than a bias toward female dominance, have no sexual taboos, and think nothing of going anywhere and everywhere wearing only their skins…
It sounds like you know what’s changed, though, and what you need to do to get through the scene. I hope it delights you!
On the pain front, I’m sorry you’re hurting, but glad that you’re managing without those loopy pills (although they might give you a whole NEW set of conversations with your crazy muse!) =)
Best of luck for a wordy and pain-free week!
Thank you, Shanjeniah. Wow, you write sex scenes between Vulcans? That has *got* to be a challenge. Of course, there’s the matter of the pon farr to consider (am I right? It’s been a *long* time sine I’ve watched Star Trek)..
My muse is insane, so yeah — loopy pills would be interesting. 😉
